Free Pallet Wood - cheap DIY projects you can do with shipping pallets

The wall has been covered with pallet wood and the table was made by Josh and Ken completely
out of free pallet wood and spray painted green.

Shipping pallets, also known as skids, are everywhere, especially in places where goods are shipped, stored, and sold. The majority of these pallets are made of  good hardwood.
Nearly 2 billion wooden pallets are currently in circulation in the US alone. Roughly half of these pallets are intended to be used only once and then discarded. And since the pallets tend to be full of difficult-to-remove nails, a percentage of these single-use pallets often end up in landfills. A sawzall or skill saw can be used to get them apart.
The upper kitchen cabinets have been removed and the breakfast bar has been covered in pallet wood by Lary and Steve. William and Josh lined the kitchen wall with pallet wood then built custom shelves to hold everything.

Watch your local free section of craigslist for free pallets. Small local stores usually have a free pile out back, too. Recycling pallet wood is a great way to have things we can't afford to buy such as shelves, tables, desks and repairs to our older mobile home.
The two long shelves over the stove and microwave are old piano wood, all the rest is pallet wood.
A spray painted table and lamp shade give added color.
I get my inspiration from Pinterest and have saved the most interesting ideas to this Pin Board: Pallet Wood
